Rotary Play Park at Liberty Park has long served as Salt Lake City's flagship all-abilities playground and was originally created to honor the 2002 Winter Paralympic Games in Utah. The city closed the older play area for a full makeover in September 2025, with an officially announced summer 2026 reopening timeline for a redesigned inclusive playground. The new plan includes a wheelchair-accessible spin carousel, sensory-friendly areas, shaded seating and picnic areas, a splash zone, sand tables, natural play areas, and adaptive interpretive features for visitors with vision, hearing, and communication differences.
