Raccoon River Park Inclusive Playground

Raccoon River Park's replacement playground is one of the strongest inclusive outdoor play spaces in the metro for families who want both access and variety. The city describes a 52,000-square-foot universal-design playground with separate motion, swings, sensory, themed play, central play, and climb-and-crawl areas. Families can expect accessible features such as a We-Go-Round, accessible swing bay, transfer deck, communication sign, sensory public art wall, rubber surfacing, colored playground grass, and shaded seating areas. Because it sits inside one of West Des Moines' biggest parks, it also works well as a destination outing with trails, lake views, shelters, beach access, and other park amenities nearby.
